March Madness 2025
It’s finally here! Well, not the NCAA tournament… It’s college decision results!
The early decision and early action dates are long gone from our memories, and the stress came right back. Didn’t it? The unexpected release dates, the decisions themselves, likely letters, deferrals possibly going to waitlists - it’s probably worse?
Some students still in the game have acceptances in their pockets due to rolling and early admissions, which can take an edge off slightly. Sadly, those with less than balanced lists are hanging on every decision.
This week brings on Ivy Day. The true test of everyone’s endurance - apparently. Although there are other schools that are waiting until the last minute of March as well.
If we know anything about this admissions cycle, it’s that anything can happen. Surprises happen in both directions. The safeties don’t feel so safe anymore, especially after an unexpected deferral.
So, is there anything that can be done to make this a little easier except for some college basketball? That could be worse as you take on emotions with potential schools’ teams. A spa day only lasts so long, meditation is impossible, and no attention span to read a book or watch a show or other sporting events. Focusing on school is a good idea. Maybe go to some admitted student days if you have them. Go on Pinterest and look for dorm room inspiration.
OR…what if these decisions could be reeled into a week or two? Maybe give the state schools one week and the private schools the other? And they swap every year? And, maybe do it in the middle of March so we can watch basketball in peace? And maybe fill out a bracket?
Tell me what you think! Do you like the current process of getting decisions as a few here and there so you can ride the highs and lows a bit before the next one drops? Or should they be ripped off like a bandaid - all in 1 day?
